This magnesium float from Concrete Countertop Solutions comes broken in, so it gives good results right out of the box. Once the top is flat from screeding, use it to flatten and smooth the surface while opening the pores of the fresh concrete, letting bleed water evaporate and air escape. When the concrete is firm enough and the bleed water has gone, switch to a steel trowel for the final finish.
Lightweight magnesium leaves a smoother finish than wood, and the uncoated magnesium needs no breaking in. The troweling surface is approximately 16" x 3". If you are using White Countertop Mix, the maker recommends the Lexan Float instead.
